A Hotly Debated List Of Things Which Mikhaila & Crystal Are Concerned About:
Global Warming - Let's not make it political/'Take it at face value'.
Hairy Dogs - is it cruel to breed them here in a climate they are not suited for? Do we need to kill them/confine them eg to Canada
Subjective Time - it exists
Democratic Alternatives - have we even thought about this non-hysterically? What are the options?
Communism?
Cervical Cancer Vaccination Conspiracy - What is really going on here, let's not give in to doctor's pressures without first using our brains
White Guilt - Do we feel guilty about living on Aboriginal land? Of course. Can we do anything to alleviate this
Aging - Can we stop it? How can we stop freaking out about it?
Status Anxiety - How can we best overcome this? Starting point - reading the book
Animal Rights - do they need them? We agree probably yes. Is it wrong to kill a rat - no.
Prevention Is Better Than Cure - a founding theory
Compassion - not being so quick to jump to the conclusion that an apparently evil situation is 'all it's cracked up to be.' Assuming the best/trial before persecution
"The Right" - Let's not go completely crazy with Liberalism. Approaching 'The Right' with an open mind.
The Welfare State - the most controversial issue between us. This is where the 'two sides to every story' rule had to be brought in. I still oppose it.
Pro-Active Evolution - been thoroughly covered - it's great
E = MC2 - (Unsure)
Eugenics - Almost definitely wrong
Cats Vs Kittens - when adopting, which is the more ethical choice?
Space Cities - Do we need to prepare for the next stage
Posterity - Should we be concerned about this, or is it "their" problem?
The Procreation Debate - do we need to bring more people into this world? Why the drive to do this?
Sex Drive - how can we turn this off? What are 'the ways' this could happen? Think about all the other things we could get done
Reproductive Rights - how can we restrict this without being totalitarian/dangerously infringing on human rights?
Science - a lot of bad ideas run amuck
National Psyche - is there one?
Morals - how do they come into play? Do we need to be constantly 'in check'?
Feminism - two sides to every story? Is there a new term needed, or should we be reclaiming the old. Is it as irrelevant in this day and age as 'the issue of slavery'?
Age Gaps - in relationships. When does it become 'highly questionable'?
Nostalgia - it's bad
Travel - do we need to do this?
Money - What would we do if we had all the money we needed? Is being rich an 'ultimate goal'?
Fate Vs Luck - is randomness helping us out, or is it 'Guardian Angels'. A practical debate
Does Karma Exist - YES. In fact, it may be 'all that exists'
What About God - (Undecided)
Are Humans Evil - yes and no. Why do we 'feel good' when we watch Schindler's List? We agree that there probably is a fundamentally 'good' side to us.
End Game - what is 'the point' of life? To be in a constant state of striving? To reach 'the next stage'? Is there any point at all/why bother.
Worrying - are we doing too much of it, or not enough?
I'm sure we will always be adding to it, anyway. Always 'opening up the discourse'. Our philosophy is that there is never a final word on anything, that we should be 'always changing views' and that it is better to have 20 bad opinions than one good one. In some ways we are the opposite to conventional view points, common sense and 'rationality'.
